Best Practices

User Accounts

For all infracstructer machine GatorLink ID’s will be used for accounts.

Stand alone or mobile devices may not always have access to an authentication server so local accounts are set up. Primarily there will be three accounts: Administrator, Owner-Admin, Owner-User. The administrator account is for the Psychology IT Support to access the machine. The Owner-Admin account should only be used when modifying the machine and is not for day to day usage. The Owner-User account is the account that should be used on a regular basis.

Email Accounts

Faculty and Staff are on UF Exchange. Students’ email reside in Office365. In the case where a student is hired into a staff position, a service account should be created for that staff. This helps prevent the mixing of student and departmental email. It also reduces the risk of Departmental email leaving the department when no longer employed.
