Internship Placement:  Two of our undergrads,  Alexandra Carr and Dominique Schlesser beat out a statewide search for a summer internship with the federal public defenders Capital Habeas Unit (CHU).  The CHU represents indigent, death-sentenced prisoners who are seeking post-conviction relief in federal court. CHU Investigation Interns work exclusively on death penalty cases and assists investigators and attorneys with case preparation.

 

Undergraduates Marianna Horton and Julia Moose, who work with Dr. Brian Cahill, Associate Instructional Professor, were selected for the Psychology Interviewing Internship with the Gainesville Public Defenders Office.  Both students are excited to learn more about the legal field and its connections to psychological science!

 

Catherine Cardenas, a previous undergraduate student in Dr. Feihong Wang’s CLP3144 Abnormal Psychology course, a current undergraduate research assistant from Dr. Feihong Wang’s research lab, was selected as one of the 12 SRI Scholars for the Summer Research Institute (SRI) of the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute at the University of South Florida out of more than 100 undergraduate student applicants from varied U.S. universities. Catherine gained intensive research training via this competitive 11-week in-person program that consists of an independent research project conducted with guidance from a distinguished faculty mentor, research seminars, professional development seminars, and skill-building workshops.
