It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of one of our graduate students, Christopher Rubow, during the fall semester. Chris was a student in the Behavior Analysis program working in Tim Vollmer’s lab. As Professor Vollmer described him:
Chris was a very creative researcher and an excellent technical writer. His work on the use of technology in classroom management for children and adolescents with difficult behavior was leading edge and would have been widely published. Chris was a sweet and caring man, who was soft spoken and humorous at a deep level.
During the fall semester, Chris Rubow was awarded his PhD in a posthumous degree ceremony held in the department. Chris’ family, friends, and colleagues attended the ceremony. Many of them shared positive memories of the multiple dimensions of Chris’ life.
We also mourn the passing of Nicole Parker, one of our undergraduate students, on January 31, 2017. As noted in her obituary, “After high school, Nicole was accepted to the University of Florida in 2013. A proud Gator, Nicole was also a part of the University of Florida ‘Pride of the Sunshine’ Marching Band. Nicole traveled to many places with her family and friends and made many wonderful memories on their trips together. She was a sweet, gifted, and beautiful young lady who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.”
