Chair’s Letter

Dear Alumni and Friends of UF Psychology,

Greetings from Gainesville! We have had a lively and productive Fall semester, and I want to take a moment to share some highlights from the past few months.

This Fall, we welcomed two new (permanent) faculty members: Faris Kronfli, formerly Visiting Assistant Professor and now Assistant Instructional Professor, and José Martínez, Assistant Professor in Social Psychology. Additionally, Jamie Newland has joined our faculty as a Visiting Assistant Professor.

Congratulations to Marina Klimenko, who was promoted to the rank of Full Instructional Professor.

We continue to build our research and teaching breadth and depth; our faculty are the foundation of the success of psychology at UF.

In the Fall 2025 Newsletter, I am especially excited to share that our faculty and graduate students received an unprecedented number of awards at the 2025 American Psychological Association’s Annual Convention.  While federal funding agencies experienced several changes this year, our faculty continued to receive new awards in addition to their ongoing research project. Our Fall newsletter also includes recent recognition of doctoral students, as well as a CLAS YTORI story profiling Psychology’s leadership in experiential learning for our undergraduate majors. We have also highlighted a recent transformation of our undergraduate research training space; with a mix of state and research funding as well as gifts on Giving Day, our renovated lab supports state-of-the-art training in cognitive neuroscience, data science, and AI.

In Brief

  • Psychology received 22 New External Funding Awards in 2024-25 to 15 different faculty members
  • Tenure Track Faculty published 5 (Median) Peer-reviewed publications in 2024-2025
  • 30% of Instructional faculty published at least one article
  • The majority of faculty publications included graduate student co-authors; their mentees also excel (Graduate Student & Postdoctoral Trainee Awards):

With the generous support of our alumni and friends, we continued to sponsor our Undergraduate Research Forum and to recognize the achievements of our doctoral students via scholarships and awards at our Spring 2025 ceremony. In addition, our graduate students received 91 awards to support travel to disseminate their work at conferences in 2024-25.

  • We are on track to match this level of productivity this year!

You can stay up-to-date on current activities, awards, and notable individuals in the news on our website and social media (add links). Thank you for your support as we build the future of Psychology Science and continue our 90-year legacy of excellence!

With gratitude,

Julia Graber
