As a professor of psychology and member of the UF Center for the Study of Emotion and Attention, Keil studies a wide range of human reactions to external stimuli. From identifying cues that elicit fear to detecting emotional change in facial expressions, Keil’s exploration of human sensation and perception has revealed new insights about brain processes and mental health.

Dr. Lisa Scott, Professor, and a University of Florida team of researchers, was one of a network of institutions selected to implement the National Institutes of Health’s HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study or HBCD, a longitudinal, multidisciplinary effort to study brain development and behavioral health in beginning before birth and throughout the first years of life. Dr. Jesse Dallery, Professor, and his team were awarded $4.5 Million to examine tech-driven tools to help people quit smoking. This five-year study will follow participants on their journeys to quit long-term, testing the effectiveness of different smartphone based interventions.
