Matt Michaels, Ph.D. is a strategic behavioral healthcare administrator and is currently serving as Senior Vice President at Behave Health Corp. His goal is to make a permanent positive impact on behavioral health systems in America. He takes an integrative approach by blending clinical, research, and administrative acumen in pursuit of this goal. Matt started his career in behavioral health as a volunteer at the Alachua County Crisis Center while completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, and will always identify as a Florida Gator.
Matt’s past scientific work has been focused on the etiology of suicidal behavior and has been cited over 2,500 times. In spite of experiencing early success as a researcher, he quickly became convinced that he needed to be closer to the front lines of behavioral healthcare. For him, work as a clinician was not scalable enough. So now, his work as an administrator utilizes elements of both approaches to expand treatment capacity and reduce barriers to entry for new providers. He has previously served on the FL Governor’s Suicide Prevention task force and as former Vice Chair of the Florida Suicide Prevention Coalition.
