Dr. Roberto Abreu has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Early Career Contributions to Diversity Science Award from Division 53 of the American Psychological Association. The award recognizes an early career psychologist who has established a program of empirical research that has had a major scientific and/or public impact on the field’s understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. Abreu will receive this honor at the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology in June for his outstanding contributions to the well-being of LGBTQ+ youth and families of color.
Dr. Roberto Abreu has also been named the 2025 recipient of the Distinguished Contribution to Education and Training Award by the American Psychological Association’s Division 44 — the Society for the Psychological Study of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity. This prestigious honor recognizes Dr. Abreu’s outstanding impact on education and training in psychology, particularly in advancing knowledge and advocacy related to sexual orientation and gender diversity. He will be formally recognized at the APA Convention this August in a special awards ceremony.
