Student Accomplishments

  • Carla Strickland-Hughes (DEV) received the following:
    Gerber Developmental Psychology Research Award, Spring 2017, $2,000.
    Charles Vincent and Heidi Cole McLaughlin Dissertation Fellowship, Summer 2016, $7,000.
    Department Travel Award, Summer 2017, $500.
    Jacquelin Goldman Travel Award for Developmental Research, Summer 2016, $500.
  • John Shallcross (BCN) received a $500 CARE travel award (Center for Addiction Research and Education) for travel to Society of Neuroscience conference and placed 3rd in the North Central Florida Society for Neuroscience Poster competition (graduate student category).
  • Elizabeth Redford (SOC) was the 2017 Association for Academic Women’s (AAW) Madelyn Lockhart Award Winner.
  • Elizabeth Redford (SOC) received an International Fellowship at Social Cognition Center Cologne, University of Cologne.
  • Brad Wilkes has been selected as a recipient of a 2016 American Psychological Association Dissertation Research Award, a $1,000 award to help offset his dissertation research costs.
  • Yao Guan (DEV) and Tian Lin (DEV) have been awarded CLAS Dissertation Fellowships.  Every fall, CLAS awards approximately fifteen, one-semester dissertation fellowships to deserving graduate students whose projects are judged by the selection committee to be highly meritorious. Successful applicants receive a stipend and paid tuition during the following spring or summer semester.
  • Hsiao-wen Liao (DEV) and Tian Lin (DEV) have been chosen as two of five Outstanding International Students in all of CLAS.  These awards highlight the accomplishments of international students at the University of Florida and recognize students who not only meet exemplary academic achievement, but also a wide range of accomplishments and contributions.
  • Danielle Davis (BCN) received a Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, Grant-in-Aid of Research in the amount of $1000 to support her dissertation research entitled The Impact of Negative Old-Age Stereotypes on Older Adults’ Tip-of-the-Tongue States.
  • Lauren Hoffman (BCN), Tian Lin (DEV), and Elizabeth Redford (SOC) received CLAS Spring 2017 Graduate Travel Awards to support their upcoming conference presentations.
  • Richard Douglass (Counseling) has been selected as the Program Representative for the Student Affiliates of Seventeen, Society of Counseling Psychology, APA Division 17, through summer 2017.
  • Marilyn Horta (DEV/BCN) was appointed as a graduate fellow for a UF NIA-funded institutional predoctoral training program (T32) in aging.
