Student Awards

Our undergraduate and graduate students have received numerous awards this semester.

On April 9th, the Psychology Graduate Student Organization and the Psychology Department hosted the 2015 Undergraduate Research Forum. We had over 20 submissions from undergraduate authors covering the breadth of psychological research in the department. Undergraduates had the opportunity to present their research posters to faculty, student attendees, and judges.

  • 1st Place: Kaitlyn Dillon (right) “Own-Age Bias in Face-Name Associations: Evidence from Visual Attention and Memory in Younger and Older Adults” from the labs of Dr. West and Dr. Ebner.
  • 2nd Place: Adriana Collada (middle), “The Effect of Odorant Chemical Structure On Odor Perception in Dogs” from the Dr. Wynne lab.
  • 3rd Place: Aleksandra Gasparova (left), “Psychosocial Risks Facing Congolese Mothers during Pregnancy” from Dr. Kertes’ lab.

Graduate Awards:

image004Liz Redford:  Liz has been selected to receive 2014-2015 Association for Psychological Science (APS) Albert Bandura Graduate Research Award for her paper, “Perceived Moral Responsibility for Attitude-based Discrimination”. This research presented participants with vignettes about a hypothetical implicitly biased person who discriminates against African Americans.

image006Sarah Slocum:  Sarah has been awarded the CLAS Ruth McQuown Scholarship Supplementary Award. The purpose of the scholarship is to honor outstanding students. The McQuown awards are made on a competitive basis to students in the fields of Humanities, Social Sciences, Individual Interdisciplinary Studies that include social sciences or humanities, and Women’s Studies.

image008Michele Traub:  Michele has been awarded the CLAS Cynthia W. Colangelo Supplementary Award for Breast Cancer Awareness. This scholarship supports students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who are actively involved in the fight against breast cancer through community service and activities.
