Specialty Psychology ProgramsAging Mind GroupThe Aging Mind Group is a coalition of faculty from across the Programs in Psychology (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) and Clinical and Health Psychology (College of Public Health and Health Professions), who are all members of the Network for Biobehavioral and Social Research and Training in Aging, http://agenetwork.phhp.ufl.edu/. A common denominator among the members of this group is that they study how optimal psychological functioning and well-being can be maintained into late life. Developmental Psychology and the College of EducationThe University of Florida Psychology department offers a Ph.D. co-major with the College of Education. A Ph.D. co-major is a program of study for a single degree in which a student satisfies the requirements in two separate academic disciplines that offer the Ph.D. The purpose is to provide interdisciplinary training to graduate students in both developmental psychology and research and evaluation methodology. Students seeking applied careers may benefit from this interdisciplinary training. Graduate Certificate in GerontologyThe University of Florida Network for Biobehavioral and Social Research and Training in Aging (The Age Network), in cooperation with the Psychology Department, offers a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology. The Certificate constitutes the required curriculum for all Aging Training Program trainees. The Certificate program is intended for students who have a strong gerontology/geriatric focus in their graduate program and will be completing a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation on aging. Neurobiological Interdisciplinary StudiesIDS majors may select an individualized set of courses that are usually from several different departments or disciplines. IDS students must perform a research project and submit and defend a senior research thesis. IDS students must have a primary advisor (research mentor) and a secondary advisor. The two advisors must be from different departments (hence, interdisciplinary) and one of them must be a member of the CLAS faculty.
Joint Ph.D./J.D. ProgramThis is a joint degree program between the College of Law and the Department of Psychology culminating in both a Juris Doctor and a Ph.D. in Psychology degree. |
